Funny

I've been feeling a little guilty that I seem to post a lot about Rachel, and not so much about Jaki. They've both had birthdays in the last 2 weeks, Rachel turning 4 and Jaki turning 2 and are becoming so grown-up! Maybe 2 is the magical age, but Jaki all of a sudden says funny things all the time.
She calls Rachel Chechel or Chech for short. The other day she and Rachel were playing while I was cooking dinner and, as so often happens, their play-time turned into an argument. I could hear the little scuffle from the kitchen, but ignored them/decided to let them work it out on their own. However, Jaki soon came into the kitchen with an angry sort of cry, "Chechel pushed my Aggie!!!" (she has a Utah State shirt that does not have an aggie on it at all, but it is still called her aggie)
Then after dinner was ready that night we sat down to eat and Jaki started out saying the blessing for us all by herself. It went a little something like this: "Dear Heavenly Father................, please bless my nilk (milk)......................, please bless Chechel's nilk............... " Then she needed help for the rest of the blessing. It was so cute.
She loves to bockagye (rockabye) and hardly ever puts up any fight for naptime. Occasionally she doesn't want to, but she sometimes even tells me she is tired and is always happy to sit on my lap in the rocking chair and bockagye. Bedtime is another story, but naptime is always a pleasure.
I love my girls!

The Ups and Downs of getting Married (in the eyes of a 3-year-old)

Rachel has been telling me for the last couple months that she is excited to get married. her reasoning being that she wants to have a baby. She would ask me constantly who she was going to marry or when she was going to get married. A couple times she has asked if she was going to marry Dad. I tell her no, that I already got him. One time after hearing this answer she asked, "Well who am I going to marry?" I told her she would marry a man who came home from his mission and told her she was awesome and that he loved her and would she marry him? I told her she would then tell him yes, but only if they got married in the temple. She asked, "Like you and Dad got married in the temple?" I said yes, just like we did. She asked, "Am I going to marry Rusty?" (Rusty is her uncle who is on a mission right now.)

Later after having one of our "when am I going to get married" conversations, I told her that when she got married she wouldn't live with us anymore. She would live with her husband.

Now she tells us she doesn't want to get married because she always wants to live with us.

What a sweetheart.

Fun at Knott's Berry Farm

We went to Knott's Berry Farm on Tuesday with Mindy's family. We were sad Jeff couldn't come because he had to work, but we still had a blast. I never imagined how much Rachel would love rollercoasters, but she was fearless! She got on the kids' roller coaster, which was even a little scary for me, but she was laughing and giggling the whole time! We went out of the kids' area to go on some of the bigger rollercoasters and Rachel so wanted to go on them, but she was about 6 inches too short. I'm excited to go back when she grows 6 more inches, which shouldn't be too long, since the girl grows like a weed. There were even a couple small rides that Jaki could go on and she seemed to have a blast too. It was a very fun day!

Jeff "Had" to "Work" on a Saturday

Yesterday the girls and I went with Jeff to "work". We went to Glen Helen Raceway east of Los Angeles to watch the Trophy Trucks in the short course off-road races. His (King Shocks) shocks were on about half of the trucks participating and were on most of the winning trucks. Apart from getting vodka spilled on me by the girl behind, we had an awesome time. At least Vodka doesn't smell, right?

We made our way through the packed stands to some seats that were right in the middle of a racing company, Hart and Huntington. They were all really nice people and their trucks were doing pretty well, naturally meaning everyone involved in the company was drinking/drunk(luckily they're nice drunks). One of the dads was saying how cute our girls were and a few of the other people around him chimed in to agree. I was feeling quite proud (they are pretty dang cute after all) when the guys says "...looks like they get it from their dad." I wasn't sure whether they were just talking about the girls' hair or whether he was trying to say their cuteness did not in any way come from me.

Luckily, a wonderful lady in our ward (with great taste, might I add) told me Jaki is the spitting image of me.

24th of July

This year we got to go to Snowflake for my favorite time of year: the 24th of July! We drove through the night Wednesday night and got there early Thursday morning. From then on it was lots of playing and little sleep for all of us. Thursday we just sat around the house and relaxed while the kids played with their cousins. Rachel and I also got to go to the Beauty and the Beast play on Thursday night that the town put on. It was really cute. I was excited for Rachel to see it, but the poor thing fell asleep on my lap about 10 minutes into the play. Here are some pictures of the weekend:

Jaki and her cousin Mary just hanging out

Amy and Hallie

Rachel and Trevin playing on the jeep

My super cute great-nephew Trigger

Friday morning we went to the Flake Rodeo. Jaki and I rode in the Grand Entry on Tyler's horse, Kit.

Here we are in action. Jaki was so cute waving to the crowd just like a rodeo queen

Karalee, Rachel and Ashton in the back of the truck at the rodeo

My niece Tyler Ann doing the barrell race on Business

Jaki loved her cowboy hat.

Shad, Reggie and me winning the calf dressing contest.

Jennifer, Ryan and me waiting for Doug to come rescue us for the Rescue Race. We won 3rd place in that event. Jeff and I also talked each other into doing the Keg Race, but we didn't get any pictures because the camera battery ran out. I raced on my mom's little paint, Joy. We sure had a fun rodeo!

Jaki Called Jeff a Wuss at Dinner Tonight

And not just a wuss, but a wuss-y!
Why? Because he wouldn't eat a peach slice dipped in barbecue sauce.

Who thought up this delectible treat? Rachel

But then as the three of us girls chanted "Do it! Do it! Do it!" he did it. It was pretty funny. Nothing like some good peer pressure to make us do things.

And you know what? Peach slices dipped in barbecue sauce really aren't so bad. (I tried it just before Jeff did and for the same reason) (Except I wasn't called a wuss.)

And this is the face Jaki made as she was saying it.

After 9 visits to the dentist, 13 cavities, and $300+ gone from our checking account, our family finally has a clean bill of dentistry.
Heres the breakdown:
Jaki-1 visit
Rachel-1 visit
Jeff-3 visits, 5 cavities
Kayla-4 visits, 8 cavities!!!!

I guess thats what you can expect after not going to the dentist for 3 years. Now if I could just get rid of this dang cold sore.
